3 Ways to Clean with Lemon

Save leftover or partially squeezed lemons for cleaning cutting boards, microwaves and hands.

Cleaning Cutting Boards

Remove berry, wine or other tough stains from cutting boards by sprinkling the stain with coarse salt. Squeeze lemon juice over salt; let sit a few minutes. Scrub stain with the flesh of the lemon. Let sit a few minutes more, and then scrub again. Rinse and dry your cleaned board.

Cleaning Microwaves

If something prepared in your microwave has left a strong aroma, pour a cup or so of water into a bowl. Squeeze juice from 2 lemon halves into the bowl and set squeezed lemons there too. Microwave until water just comes to a boil. Let stand for 5 minutes. Open door, remove bowl and wipe down surfaces of your microwave.
