We receive hundreds of requests for community support from a range of organizations each year.

In order for us to support as many deserving community groups and to better understand our community’s needs, we ask that you complete our online application process. Thank you for your interest in our company.

In order to be eligible for community support, you must be a local not-for-profit organization. To qualify, the event or project must directly benefit the community. It should also serve one of the following main areas of focus:

• Arts & Culture
• Education
• Environment
• Health & Wellness
• Sport
• Youth

General Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria for Community Action Fund Donations

• The organization must be a Canadian Registered Charity
• The donation request is for under $10,000
• The event or project must directly benefit the communities where we operate
• The donation request is for a donation vs an event sponsorship* (see below)
• Eligibility is dependent on the organization agreeing to provide a follow up report that identifies their measures of success
• The organization must align with one or both areas of support listed above (healthy bodies and healthy mind.

• Any individual or business endeavours
• Organizations that collect funds for subsequent redistribution to other charities or to individuals
• Organizations with values, purposes, policies or practices in conflict with Thrifty Foods values
• Promotion of political organizations and affiliated activities
• Religious or sectarian programs or purposes, unless they are engaged in a significant project benefiting the entire community
• Conferences or seminars
• Salaries or operating costs
• Endowments
• Trips and tours
• Film, video and television productions
• Publications and advertising
• Private clubs

Event sponsorships are related to a for-profit venture.

Examples include: trade shows, a food expo, professional sports teams or festivals. How the sponsorship is activated varies and often includes logo placement/recognition of a specific property.
