Meet John. This native Vancouverite has three children and celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary in 2020. He heard about Sendial from a neighbor and has volunteered since 2004 at the Saltspring Island store. John is the Captain of the team and enjoys helping to keep the program organized and running well. He is both a Phoner and Shopper, doing whatever is needed. John enjoys working with other Volunteers, giving back and interacting with Store staff. John recalls a time when he personally delivered an order to a customer due to a challenge with the usual delivery process. He also remembers when a customer’s refrigerator stopped working and one of the Volunteers rallied the others to collectively buy her a replacement if it became necessary. John believes that the Sendial Program is wonderful and is thankful to Thrifty Foods for providing it. John is pictured with his oldest friend!
